Mauritius has lift off…
June 4th, 2010 by MaxThis week saw the small island nation of Mauritius getting its Global Entrepreneurship Week preparations off to a big start with the Entrepreneurial Training Workshop. The programme has been organised by the Week’s organisers on the island, Empretec Mauritius. This week’s ETW is one of a series of six Workshops that Empretec is organising in the build up to Global Entrepreneurship Week, with the climactic event taking place during the Week itself.
The ETW is based around an innovative and interactive methodology developed by Harvard University’s finest brains for UNCTAD (Empretec’s founding organisation). Research carried out by the university’s Business School established that most successful entrepreneurs share 10 common Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies, or PEC’s. So, instead of lectures, the event employs a behavioural approach through structured exercises, small and large group activities, diagnostic tools and more. All of this provides an intensive assessment and enhancement of participants’ PEC’s.

The event aims to provide entrepreneurs with the tools to become autonomous, and ultimately to help alleviate poverty in the country. So, if you find the glorious British summertime is having a negative effect on your productivity, take inspiration from our Mauritian friends who have to deal with the above conditions on a daily basis…
