Tennerific Swindon!

Tenner is live!!

Had a fantastic day in Swindon yesterday meeting entrepreneurial students from Commonweal School, St Joseph’s Catholic College, Drove Primary and Swindon Academy for the Tenner launch.

Maybe it was because the sun was shining, it was St David’s day, but the atmosphere in Swindon was buzzing! It was great hearing what the students plan to do with their tenners, I’ll be following what they get up to as I heard lots of promising and innovative ideas.

Channel 4 ‘Secret Millionaire’ Caroline Marsh lent her support to the campaign and was busy chatting away to the students at St Joseph’s yesterday. Hopefully they were picking her brains for money-making tips!

Another highlight was discovering the I Belong To Swindon project, created by Drove Primary School and involving seven primary and infant schools across Swindon. They’ll be working together and investing their tenners in this community-based project. The schools will create a ’social credit card’, rewarding people for doing good in the community by exchanging their social credit for goodies from the likes of McDonalds and Waterstones. I think this idea is fantastic and is a great example of how important social enterprise is to make Your Mark with a Tenner.

We also managed to do some filming for the Tenner Clock News so watch out for footage, coming soon!
