The APP/rentice

There is a new concept in education. It’s called the School For Communication Arts 2.0 and is set to give the communications industry its next set of stars.

Entrepreneur Marc Lewis has developed a startling new model for the way his curriculum is being developed. Taking the concept of Wikipedia, the curriculum for the SCA is developed by a multitude of industry experts. Each will contribute their expertise and resource to the constantly evolving course content. Marc has the backing of 300 of his contacts in the industry who have agreed to be mentors to the 50 students. Each students receives a 6 month placement at a top agency and 10 students receive £10,000 to start their own business! These students will succeed through innovation and have been dubbed ‘ideapreneurs’.

Additionally there are a number of scholarships up for grabs for those who can’t afford the fees. Enterprise UK is supporting a competition where the prize is a scholarship; the APP/rentice challenges potential students to come up with a concept for a new mobile phone application. There’s no experience of writing an App needed, just an innovative idea.

Check out the cool ‘Prezi’ Flash animation whilst you have a poke around the site:

We look forward to seeing the advertising gurus of the future, but in the meantime, what is your idea for a mobile phone app?
