Owners of small firms do not believe celebrity entrepreneurs in TV shows like Dragon’s Den and The Apprentice reflect real life. A study by Nottingham University Business School showed 81 per cent of owners and 75 per cent believe they distort public perceptions of entrepreneurship.

Experts at the British Property Federation’s annual retail summit warned yesterday hat town centres are losing the battle ro keep consumers in shops and said that local revitalisation measures are urgently needed. A report released by the Local Data Company showed that the number of empty town centre shops climbed to 17,780 in the second half of 2009.
