Money, money, money – isn’t funny

While scanning the papers today I read that – ‘Up to 170,000 students have still not received confirmation of university grants and loans –  many may be forced to start courses with little or no money to cover rent, food and books, and that some may be unable to enrol’.

These are pretty dire straits for young to-be under graduates heading off to live away from home for the first time - not to mention their parents, who will no doubt have to find the money to finance their children in the short term.

Some young people will no doubt have to pull out of their courses all together as they don’t have any alternative means of funding themselves. But don’t fret – all is not lost! If you or someone you know is in this situation, perhaps point them in the direction of the website www.notgoingtouni.co.uk – this site is packed full of info about opportunities that exist outside of uni, and could help bridge the gap if you have to push uni back a year. The website is the brain-child of one of our brilliant Make Your Mark Ambassadors, Tom Mursell whose Inspiring Story can be read here.
