Leaders of the entrepreneurial world
March 5th, 2009 by jonathanSo, a couple of weeks ago everyone’s favourite world leader said in his inaugural address to the nation from congress, “The answers to our problems don’t lie beyond our reach, they exist …. in the imaginations of our entrepreneurs”. An amazing endorsement of the purpose of Make Your Mark’s work. For a man elected because of public confidence in his ability to bring change to the United States to say that this change is going to come from entrepreneurs is surely brilliant.
And now, our very own Gordon Brown has done exactly the same thing in his speech to Congress this week, ‘America and Britain will succeed and lead if we tap into the talents of our people, unleash the genius of our scientists and set free the drive of our entrepreneurs’.
The message of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008 was ‘Can entrepreneurs change the world?’ – a question which two of the most powerful people have now answered!

It is a great quote. A wonderful soundbite. What has he done in practice for entrepreneurs? Sweet Fanny Adams. Some minor tax reforms. Bankers get billions, large employers get bail outs, entrepreneurs get next to nowt. Words ARE cheap.
Early days – I am not judging yet – but lets look for the substance behind the words.

Yes, I agree with Mr Chitty. Let’s see how the entrepreneurs get on when loans from the banks are so scarce.
