Lambeth, Crisps, and Time Travel

Lambeth Town Hall- somewhere in the early 21st Century.

Young Rodney and I are manning a stall at the YES (Your Enterprise Success) Lambeth Event- anxiously awaiting the great Scott Cain to do his turn- Make Your Mark Deputy Chief and variety entertainer (possibly). There are also a number of young entrepreneurs from across London (including our own Nathan John), as well as colleagues from Shell Livewire, London Knowledge Innovation Centre, Business Extra, Red Ochre, and Croydon Enterprise.

Mingle, network-but most of all gather the sweets and pens as quickly as possible!

But, what’s this………………Deputy Cain is on his feet. It’s a short bit about MYM with a Tenner and he get’s an appluase- Ah the old warm-up- it works every time. We’re still on tenter hooks for the main turn.

In the meantime…

I had great fun earlier today helping out the education team sift through the MYM Challenge entries. Some wild, wierd, and wacky ideas. Genuinely though, I was struck by how much work and effort had gone into the entries from the teams. We told them it was bananas- but they seem to have got to grips and made sense of it. I’ve never really been a judge before, so it was a new experience. I think the Whitney Houston numbers (thanks Tori) ringing around the office may have helped my judicial interpretation. I am writing this recommendation up for the old bailey already.

But, what’s this…..Scott has been passed over! Cut from the running order! But why? Well Nathan has just concluded a very movng speech on his personal journey and his determination to succeed in social enterprise. Some times less is more.

Running on Steak flavoured McCoys and Celebrations Rodney and I will soldier on. Who knows who we will come up against in the next half hour? The trhill of the chase- and we’ve got some of them ‘07 DVDs left too!

Quick Cain’s coming over….
